From Hurt to Pride

I want to share something personal—something that stayed with me longer than I expected.
I was at an event, walking through stalls, admiring the work of fellow creators, when I stopped at one stall that felt strangely familiar. The designs in front of me looked almost identical to pieces we had created at Bibka—pieces that came from months of thought, trial, mistakes, and intention.
It wasn’t online.
It wasn’t second-hand information.
It was right there, in front of me.
When it was later brushed off as “a thin line between inspiration and imitation,” it hurt more than I care to admit. Because that line, for someone who creates from the ground up, is not thin at all.
Every Bibka piece begins as an idea that is questioned, reworked, and often doubted before it ever becomes jewellery. Originality is slow. It demands patience, belief, and the courage to choose the harder path when shortcuts are easily available.
Seeing that effort reduced to a mere imitation was painful. It felt personal—because it was.
I allowed myself to sit with that feeling. The disappointment. The silence. The quiet questioning that follows moments like these.
And then something shifted.
I realised that copies don’t come from admiration—they come from convenience. And more importantly, they only exist because originals matter.
What once felt like hurt slowly turned into pride. Because no matter how closely something is replicated, it can never carry intent. It can’t hold the story, the values, or the reasons behind why something was created in the first place.
You can copy a design.
But you can’t copy integrity.
I chose not to react loudly or point fingers. Instead, I chose to return to my work with even more clarity and conviction. Because brands built on imitation may gain speed—but brands built on purpose endure.
To everyone who supports original design, who sees the difference, and who chooses intention over imitation—thank you. You’re the reason Bibka exists, and the reason moments like these don’t break us.
From hurt to pride, I move forward.
Still creating honestly. Still standing by my values. Still Bibka.
